Public Transportation

Access to safe, affordable & accessible public transportation is critical for many of us with disabilities.  Disability Network is doing important work around the issue of public transportation, both locally and statewide.  Follow the links below and find out more about what we're doing, how YOU can be involved, and get helpful links to transit-related groups and organizations in Southwest Michigan.

Public transit exists in each of the six counties we serve.  If you want to learn how about transit in your county, the contact information is:

  • Barry County.   Barry County Transit operates dial-a-ride service Monday through Friday.
  • Branch County.  The transit system is BATA - Branch Area Transit Authority.  Call (517) 279-8671 for information.
  • Calhoun CountyBattle Creek Public Transit operates a fixed-route system in the core urban area as well as a dial-a-ride system. 
  • Kalamazoo CountyKalamazoo Metro Transit operates a fixed route system in the urban center of the county and a dial-a-ride service (Care-A-Van) that serves rural and urban residents throughout the county.
  • St. Joseph CountySt. Joseph County Transportation Authority operates transit throughout the county.
  • Van Buren CountyVan Buren Public Transit provides service throughout the county. Specific services vary by area.
